$ cat phomemo-d520bt-notes.txt
typical knockoff resold printer issues, tl;dr do not use the driver from the
phomemo site it is missing required files

#### initial attempt

kde detected the printer but had no driver, download driver
https://phomemo.com/en-au/products/d520-bt-bluetooth-shipping-label-printer
linux driver from site does not come with a ppd file for the model d520-bt but
we install linux driver, still no hw match, manual install shows no product
listed for d520-bt

on the main website under printer detection failure faq entry they list the
labellife pm246s as the driver download page https://labelife.net/#/pm246s this
linux driver pack comes with a d520 ppd

so .... lets combine the two driver pack ppds and see wtf happens and let kde
do its things after a reinstall, printer is now installed

when attempting to print printer dialog lists a missing binary from the
labelife pack, obviously referred to in the ppd but we wont hack it in to work
with the phomemo binaries *yet* ... no need to combine, just go with labellife
driver

# broken driver

#### second attempt

grab the labellife driver and install, replug printer, let kde find it and
print ... device works fine

# working driver (tested on x86_64)

#### mirrored

drivers are mirrored here (for myself); there is no implied warrantly etc use
at your own risk, they are direct from the labelife site 2025-04-02

#### glabel

- install glabel (flatpak here)
- setup a custom a6 full page label, populate it and print.

overall, very simple, quality is fine
